About accommodations

Q1 Do you offer any accommodation-only plans (no meals)?

A

We do not offer accommodation-only plans. Our plans include breakfast or two meals for one night.

Q2 What is the starting price for a one night, two meal stay?

A

While rates differ depending on the day and what is included in dinner, our plans start at ¥14,300 (tax included).

Q3 Can I book an accommodation plan I saw online over the telephone?

A

These are internet only plans. As a result, we do not accept telephone reservations.

Q4 I'm staying at the hotel for a birthday or special occasion. Are there any surprises that the hotel can help plan?

A

We can arrange for cakes or bouquets with advanced reservations. (Separate charges apply) For details, please contact Taikanso Reservation Center at +81-22-354-5214.

Q5 I am arriving by car. Is there a parking lot?

A

We have paved parking for roughly 200 vehicles. If this parking lot becomes full, we will direct you to a second and third parking lot (unpaved).
Please note that all parking is uncovered. Those coming by motorbike, please note that we have no indoor parking.

Q6 I’m staying with children. How much are children’s rates?

A

As a general rule, elementary school students pay will be charged 70% of the adult rate, and ages 3 to preschool age will be charged 50%.
Those under two will be charged an admission fee (no food, co-sleeping) of ¥2,200 (tax included).
Children 0 to 1 stay free of charge (no bedding or meals).

Q7 How do I book multiple rooms over the internet?

A

You will have to book each room separately until you have booked the necessary number of rooms. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Q8 I’d like to use the hotel for a reunion. Can I view the hotel in advance?

A

You may set up a time in advance to view the facility. Walk-ins are subject to availability. Please contact the reservation center at +81-22-354-5214.

About guest rooms

Q1 Do the guest rooms come with a bath?

A

All guest rooms come with an attached bath. Some rooms have separate toilet and bath and some rooms have a unit bath, depending on the type of room.

Q2 A member of our party uses a wheelchair. Can they enter the guest rooms, and is there a difference in level between the room and the bathroom?

A

We do not have any rooms that are 100% wheelchair-accessible. While layouts differ depending on the room, some rooms have a difference in level between the room itself and the bath or toilet area, and most rooms have a difference in level at the entrance.

Q3 Are there any rooms that allow pets?

A

Unfortunately, we do not have any rooms that allow guests to stay with pets.

Q4 Can I choose between smoking and non-smoking?

A

We currently offer a limited amount of non-smoking rooms. Please request at the time of booking your reservation . If there are no rooms available, we can provide room deodorizers and remove any ashtrays in the smoking rooms.

Q5 Can I use Wi-Fi in the guest rooms?

A

Wi-Fi is available in select rooms. Please request a room with Wi-Fi access at the time of booking your reservation. Otherwise, Wi-Fi is available to all guests in the lobby on the first floor.

Q6 Are there drinks in the refrigerator?

A

We regret we do not have mini bar beverages available in the refrigerator. You may purchase drinks in our shop and vending machines.

Q7 Which rooms are close to the baths?

A

The closest type of room to the baths is Shofukaku (Japanese type).

Q8 Can I specify a high floor or a specific room number when making a reservation?

A

We do not make reservations for specific room numbers or high floors. We can make arrangements within our powers, but please understand that we cannot make any guarantees.

Q9 I reserved a mountainside room, but can I change it to a seaside room on the day of my arrival?

A

It depends on that day’s availability, but the room can be changed if there is a vacancy. You may be charged an additional fee.

About meals

Q1 Can I eat lunch without making a reservation?

A

Reservations are not required for lunch, so if there are open seats when you arrive, you can use the restaurant.
However, the restaurant may be fully booked by guests with reservations or due to a private event, depending on the day. We recommend making a reservation in advance.

Q2 What is the difference between the Japanese/Western/Chinese buffet and the Japanese-style seafood buffet?

A

The Japanese/Western/Chinese buffet features an eclectic array of dishes that lets you enjoy Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine.
The Japanese-style seafood buffet is a Japanese buffet focused on fresh seafood caught that day.
This buffet is recommended for seafood lovers.

Q3 I have an allergy, can arrangements be made?

A

We will do everything in our power to support you. Please inquire first at Taikanso Reservation Center at +81-22-354-5214.

Q4 Can I order additional food?

A

Additional dishes can be ordered only when ordering the Japanese/Chinese course (reservation required).
We do not charge for additional food at the buffet hall.

Q5 Can I make requests for dinner time or all you can drink?

A

This can be arranged for an additional fee for meals at the Japanese/Western/Chinese buffet, seafood buffet, and banquet hall only.
The fee differs depending on which restaurant you use. Please inquire should you wish to order.

About sightseeing

Q1 When does Matsushima hold fireworks displays?

A

Matsushima holds a memorial fireworks show on the Matsushima coast but this year’s date has not been decided.

Q2 I have a reservation at the hotel for that night. May I leave the car at the hotel parking lot and go sightseeing?

A

Yes, you may. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM. We have a convenient hotel shuttle bus should you arrive early and wish to leave your car at the hotel parking lot and go sightseeing.

Q3 What sightseeing spots do you recommend?

A

We provide information on sightseeing on the hotel website. Please have a look. See here for sightseeing in the area

Q4 We are heading to Matsushima from Sendai. Are there any sightseeing spots along the way that you recommend?

A

In the Sendai port area is the Kirin Beer Sendai Factory, Mitsui Outlet Mall, and the Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium.
Anyone from children to adults can enjoy these spots.

Q5 Do you have sightseeing maps for other prefectures?

A

Unfortunately, we only provide maps for our prefecture.

About accessing the hotel

Q1 Do you offer shuttle to Sendai Station?

A

We do not offer shuttles to Sendai Station. If you come to JR Matsushima-Kaigan Station on the Senseki Line or JR Matsushima Station on the Tohoku Line, you can use our hotel shuttle bus.

Q2 Does the shuttle require reservations?

A

Groups of up to 5 do not require special reservations. Number of seats are limited, so large groups require reservations.

Q3 I’m coming from Tokyo by train. What is the best way to come?

A

You will need to transfer at JR Sendai Station to a conventional train line (Senseki Line: Matsushima Kaigan Station or Tohoku Line: Matsushima Station).
We operate a free shuttle bus from Matsushima-Kaigan and Matsushima Station according to a timetable.
